It’s funny — I’m thinking about the connections I’m making here now in Israel and I wonder about hypothetical decisions. Before, I would say that not being able to stay with a person you love, who you met in a finite period and who is from another life or place, simply meant the love wasn’t strong enough. Now, I see that commitment isn’t emotionally self-evident but a nearly arbitrary, impulsive choice.
